I think the poster is pretty clear but just to emphasize: “too much food” is not a matter of grams or calories or macros. “Too much food” is when you give yourself indigestion. This happens most often when you are either so hungry that you eat really fast, or when you’re mostly paying attention to something else.
I’ve seen plenty of “diet tips” that encourage eating slowly, drinking water between bites, and not eating in front of a screen, and those are mostly aimed at getting you to eat less in general – but they are useful tips if you have a tendency to get overfull.
A lot of people who’ve been through the diet wringer have a hard time distinguishing feelings of hunger and satiety because they’ve been eating in ways that aren’t right for their bodies. Diets tend to require you to ignore your hunger for a long time, either by fasting or by not eating enough to feel full, which almost always leads in the end to eating much more than you need to feel full because your body is screaming at you for sustenance. Getting back in touch with your body’s actual needs after extended dieting can be a long process.
